I have this thought
I have this thought that I will someday see
The Lord who’s pure, lovely, like the lily
His song sings clear, fresh like the morning bird
To wake me from the dark, the rain, and pit
So near he lives! In me and you He breathes
His arms they hold me strong throughout the day

Party on the Roof and Dance Floor
As I was walking up to Anne's abode last night, I heard a voices calling from the roof top. Heidi, Tanya, and several other dim figures shouted greetings. Eager to join the revelry, I climbed the (scarry) ladder and went through the open hatch. I felt alive and very much like a chimney sweep up there.
When it was time for us to climb down, Heidi and I especially, became a bit frightened. Heidi started thanking God for her life as she lowered her self down, onto the unstable ladder. I quoted from "Death be not Proud" in an attempt to calm Heidi and motivate myself to take the fearsome plunge. Thankfully, we all made it down okay!
Later, Anne and I busted out our ballet moves. Both of us have a back round in ballet so out came the pirouettes, pas de chats, balances and yes, even those darned fouetees. Ballet never leaves one.
A few years ago, I conversed with a woman who had recently sold her dance studio in order to take care of her husband. It was fun to talk about dance with this woman because I could tell she LOVED it. By the end of the conversation, we were both in tears because we missed dancing so much... though I must say I have a moral dilemma with pointe shoes.
I LOVE pointe. It adds a grace and weightless appearence to the female line. If you've ever watched a prima, let's say, Gelsey Kirland, she appears to be floating. It is so beautiful; there is nothing like it.
All the same, pointe is not natural and it's darn bad for your feet. My toe nails used to bruise and fall off, and my feet continually felt soar and gross. To add to this, men do not wear pointe shoes (unless they are playing the role of the ass (Bottom) in Midsummer Night's Dream). So, you can argue that these pink, satin shoes promote sexism... I'll have to pen more thoughts when I have the time.
It was a wonder-full party Anne!

Iowa
I drove out to Atlantic, Iowa this past weekend for Buffy and Ian's wedding. It was one of the most beautiful weddings I've been to. I especially loved Buffy's choice of "Phantom of the Opera" tunes. The song, "Think of Me" (I think that's what it's called) was in my head the next day. I also loved that Ian branded his sword in the middle of the reception. You guys are such great people! Do come and visit us here in St. Louis.
Here is a quatrain I tried to write about Southern Iowa:
I look and see the corn, the soy, and hay
The land, it rolls with hills; it curves with grace
The trees are few; they are touched with gold ray
The sky, it stretches wide to turn my face
